Beer Cures Cancer. No, I'm Not Kidding

Seriously man. Why would I lie 'bout this? I'm just as exited as you are. Ain't this awesome? Well Nirash, i get it that there'll be no more lectures on drinking too much beer anymore?
CORVALLIS, Ore. - A compound found only in hops and the main product they are used in - beer - has rapidly gained interest as a micronutrient that might help prevent many types of cancer. Researchers at Oregon State University first discovered the cancer-related properties of this flavonoid compound called xanthohumol about 10 years ago.Link.
Xanthohumol appears to have several mechanisms of action that relate to its cancer preventive properties, scientists say. It, and other related flavonoid compounds found in hops, inhibit a family of enzymes, commonly called cytochromes P450 that can activate the cancer process. It also induces activity in a "quinone reductase" process that helps the body detoxify carcinogens. And it inhibits tumor growth at an early stage.Xanthohumol also appears to have a role as a fairly powerful antioxidant - even more than vitamin E. And it has shown the ability to reduce the oxidation of LDL, or bad cholesterol. -- Oregon State University Press Release

First of all, the refered article mentions nothing about beer curing cancer. What it does is suggest beer contains flavanoid that helps prevents cancer.
There are multitudes of veges and fruits that also contain this flavanoid compound, so beer is not exactly the magical elixir thats gonna get rid of cancer.
And even if beer did cure cancer (and why stop there), Aids, and bird flu, there is absolutely no way i will stop lecturing about too much beer consumption. One, because the benefits does not overshadow the danger. Second, and more importantly, i love lecturing. Almost as much as A.D loves drinking.
The difference between beer and fruits is that beer contains, a magical substance that you might remember (but since you've been sober for like eternity now you might not) called ALCOHOL. I'm sure parties would be really fun served with just fruits, but you see, even fruits blend well with alcohol.
Yes i read that, and yes i know it strays away from the topic, but you get the point.
So you're saying just cuz beer has alcohol it makes it all the more valuable that it also contains flavanoids. One bad and one good does not make an even greater good. I believe that is basic mathematics.
An yes, you strayed way out of topic.
Leave it up to you to change something fun like drinking into something awfully boring like mathematics.
And there you go changing the topic again
